Combat to Choir - An Exhibition and Concert
Chapel Male Voice Choir are holding an exhibition and FREE concert at New Mills Town Hall. The exhibition features an extensive range of memorabilia, artifacts and service records, which appertain to the Great War in the High Peak.
It includes letters sent from the front, and from the home, and also articles from the local press. Local people are invited to attend, and our historian will be able to show relatives full details of their family's military service. The exhibition is on Friday 22nd February from 10 am until 4pm and Saturday 23rd February from 10am until 1pm.
The events culminate with a FREE concert at the Town Hall on the 23rd February at 7:30pm . this takes the form of an evening of popular songs, of the period, interspersed with a narrative featuring excerpts from letters exchanged between local soldiers and families , and also articles from the local Press.
The events also commemorate 100 years of Chapel Male Voice Choir, which was formed by returning servicemen in 1918. This is why the events are entitled " Combat to Choir ".
